As the founder of a digital demand consultancy, I often have the pleasure of working with high-powered individuals who have built successful businesses. They come to us when their brands need a creative jolt.
Clearly, they expect to meet with pros. But how we define that is different than most. It’s also the secret sauce for driving success in life and business.
Take, for example, the maverick CEO of a cell phone remanufacturing company who initially came to our company for a website redesign (or so he thought). At our first meeting, he and his team launched right into their take on the project’s scope of work. This was a fine start.
But what I wanted to know about was not only the website (output) but also the bigger picture (system). So I asked the CEO to take a step back and invited him to imagine the path a cell phone takes on its way to his remanufacturing plant. It starts the minute someone drops or cracks their phone, to recycling and replacing the screens and components, all the way to happily finding it in the new owner’s hands. Then one day, the remanufactured phone falls out of a pocket and hits the concrete. And so the cycle starts again.
